St Andrews: Guide
St Andrews on noin 16 000 asukkaan kaupunki Skotlanti|Skotlannin itärannikolla, Fifen hallintoalueella. Kaupunki tunnetaan 1410-luku|1410-luvulla perustetusta St Andrewsin yliopistosta sekä maailman ensimmäisestä golfklubista. Kaupunki on nimetty apostoli Andreas (apostoli)|Andreaan mukaan.
Vuonna 1754 perustettiin Society of St Andrews Golfers, joka 1834 otti nimekseen The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (The R&A). Tämä klubi on sittemin ollut ylin auktoriteetti golfin alalla ja muokannut kaupungille "golfin kotipaikan" maineen. Kaupungin kentät – erityisesti The Old Course – ovat toimineet useasti British Openin kilpailupaikkoina.
