Edinburgh ( , ) on tärkeä ja historiallisesti merkittävä kaupunki Skotlanti|Skotlannin itärannikolla. Se on ollut Skotlannin pääkaupunki vuodesta 1437. Edinburgh'n uusi ja vanha kaupunki liitettiin Unescon maailmanperintölistalle vuonna 1995. Kaupungin asukasluku on 448 624 (2001), ja se on Glasgow|Glasgow'n jälkeen Skotlannin toiseksi suurin kaupunki.

Kaupungin nimet
Edinburgh'n nimen arvellaan olevan peräisin alueella eläneen anglien valloitettua linnoitus sen nimi muuttui muotoon Edin-burh.
Kaupunkia kutsutaan myös useilla lempinimillä. Auld Reekie -nimitys (skot. ’Vanha Savuisa’) on peräisin ajalta, jolloin talojen lämmityksessä käytetyn hiilen ja puun synnyttämä savu peitti kaupungin verhoonsa. Kaupunkia kutsutaan usein nimellä Athens of the North (Pohjoisen gaelin sanoista Dùn Èideann. Brittiläiset runoilijat ovat käyttäneet kaupungista nimityksiä Britaine's other eye ja yon Empress of the North. Skotit käyttävät Edinburgh'stä nimiä Edinburrie ja Embra. Kaupungin latinankielinen nimi on Edina.
