Chester on historiallinen kaupunki Luoteis-Englanti|Luoteis-Englannissa lähellä Walesin rajaa. Vuoden 2001 laskennassa siellä oli noin 90 000 asukasta.
Chester on rooman valtakunta|roomalaisten sotilaslinnoitukseksi perustama kaupunki, jossa on myös suurin Italian ulkopuolella oleva amfiteatteri. Teollistumisen aikana Manchesterin ja Liverpoolin yläluokka hankki asuntoja Chesterin miellyttävämmästä ja puhtaammasta ympäristöstä. Edelleenkin Chester on rikkaiden suosiossa ja siellä sanotaan olevan maan toiseksi eniten miljonäärejä suhteessa asukaslukuun, Lontoon jälkeen. Kaupungin rakennuskannasta iso osa on 1800-luvun lopulta ja 1900-luvun alusta Keskustan huomiota herättävin piirre ovat keskiajalta peräisin olevat kaksikerroksisten kaupparakennusten kujat. Kauppa ja turismi ovatkin nykyisin tärkeimpiä elinkeinoja.
Chesterin yöelämä on hyvin vilkasta ja pubien ystäville on tarjolla yli 200 erillaista ja eri tavoin erikoistunutta pubia. Parhaimmillaan kaupungissa on ollut, paikallisten sanoman mukaan, pubi jokaiselle vuoden päivälle.
Chesterissä on helppoa liikkua jalan. Kätevä tapa liikkua paikasta toiseen on ydinkeskustaa ympäröivä muuri, josta saa melko hyvän kuvan kaupungista, noin tunnin kävelyllä.
