Pécs: Guide
Pécs () on Unkarin viidenneksi suurin kaupunki. Se sijaitsee maan lounaisosassa. Pécs on Baranyan alueen hallinnollinen ja taloudellinen keskus. Kaupunki tunnettiin aiemmin saksalaisella nimellä Fünfkirchen. Kaupungin pinta-ala on 163 neliökilometriä ja asukasluku 159 794 (2001).
Nykyinen Pécsin alue on ollut asutettu jo 6000 vuotta sitten. Ennen Rooman valtakunta|Rooman aikaa aluetta asuttivat keltit. 300-luku|300-luvun lopulla Rooman valta alueella heikkeni hunnit|hunnien hyökkäysten vuoksi.
Pécsiin rakennettiin sairaala viimeistään vuonna 1181. Vuonna 1367 kaupunkiin perustettiin yliopisto. Se oli koko Unkarin ensimmäinen yliopisto.
Pécs on Lahti|Lahden ystävyyskaupunki.
