Wolfsburg: Guide
Wolfsburg, 123 000 asukkaan kaupunki Saksassa Ala-Saksin osavaltiossa, perustettu 1.7.1938 alun perin Stadt des KdF-Wagens nimellä. Kaupunki sai alkunsa kolmannen valtakunnan "Kraft durch Freude"-Kansallissosialismi|natsijärjestön toimesta joka ryhtyi rakentamaan alueelle tehdasta ja työläisten asuntoja tuottaakseen 'kansanautoja', joita jokainen työläinen olisi kyennyt hankkimaan. Toinen maailmansota|Toisen maailmansodan syttyminen muutti kuitenkin suunnitelmia ja tehdas ryhtyikin tuottamaan sotatarvikkeita.
Sodan lopulla Liittoutuneet|liittoutuneiden ilmavoimien pommitukset aiheuttivat tehtaille suuria tuhoja. Liittoutuneet|Liittoutuneiden miehitettyä Saksan jäi seutu Englanti|Britannian joukkojen hallintaan. Britit nimesivät kaupungin uudestaan 22.7.1945 Wolfsburgiksi alueella sijaitsevan 1500-luvulta peräisin olevan linnan mukaan. Tämän jälkeen kaupunki on nimetty kerran uudestaan, nimittäin tilapäisesti viikon ajaksi Golfsburgiksi juhlistaakseen kaupungin kehitykselle merkityksellisen Volkswagen Volkswagen Golf|Golf-automallin viidettä sukupolvea. Maailman kolmanneksi suurimmalla autoteollisuusyrityksellä VAG|Volkswagen AG:llä on pääkonttori Wolfsburgissa.
