Weimar on kaupunki Saksassa. Se sijaitsee Thüringenin osavaltiossa. Sen nykyinen väkiluku on arviolta 62 000. Vanhin merkintä kaupungista on vuodelta 899.
Weimar on yksi Eurooppa|Euroopan merkittävistä kulttuuripaikoista. Se on mm. Johann Sebastian Bach|Bachin, Goethen, Schillerin ja Herderin kotikaupunki. Weimar on ollut saksalaisen älymystön pyhiinvaelluskohde aina siitä asti, kun Goethe ensimmäisenä muutti kaupunkiin myöhään 1700-luku|1700-luvulla. Kaupungissa sijaitsevat Goethen, Schillerin ja Friedrich Nietzsche|Nietschen hautapaikat, samoin kuin Goethen ja Schillerin arkistot.
Aikakautta 1919–1933 Saksan historiassa kutsutaan yleisesti Weimarin tasavalta|Weimarin tasavallaksi, koska tasavallan perustuslaki kirjoitettiin kaupungissa pääkaupungin Berliinin ollessa katumellakoineen liian vaarallinen kansalliskokoukselle kokoontua.
Weimar oli myös arkkitehtuuri|arkkitehtonisen Bauhaus-liikkeen keskus. Kaupungissa sijaitsee useita taidegallerioita, museoita, Saksan kansallisteatteri ja Bauhaus-yliopisto. Toinen maailmansota|Toisen maailmansodan aikaan Weimarissa oli keskitysleiri, joka tunnetaan paremmin nimellä Buchenwald. Buchenwald oli pieni metsä, jossa Goethe rakasti käydä.
UNESCO valitsi kaupungin Euroopan kulttuuripääkaupunki|kulttuuripääkaupungiksi vuodelle 1999.
3. syyskuuta 2004 tulipalo ryöstäytyi valloilleen kreivitär Anna Amalian kirjastossa. Kirjasto sisälsi 13000 nidettä käsittävän kokoelman Goethen mestariteosta Faustia ja kreivittären laajan musiikkikokoelman. Autenttinen luterilainen raamattu vuodelta 1534 pelastettiin tulipalolta. Rahallisesti vahingot nousevat miljooniin euroihin. Historiallisen kirjaston yli miljoonasta niteestä 40000–50000 tuhoutui. Kirjasto kuuluu UNESCO:n maailman kulttuuriperintölistalle ja se on yksi vanhimmista julkisista kirjostoista Euroopassa. Tulipalon aiheuttamat tuhot merkitsevät suurta kulttuurillista tappiota Saksalle, Euroopalle ja koko maailmalle. Osa kirjoista oli kuivapakastettuna Leipzigissä, suojattuna mätänemiseltä.
