Schwerin: Guide
Schwerin on kaupunki Pohjois-Saksassa. Se on Mecklenburg-Etu-Pommerin osavaltion pääkaupunki. Kaupungin pinta-ala on 130,46 km² ja väkiluku noin 96 941 (2005). Schwerinin ympärillä sijaitsevista järvistä suurin on Schweriner See (60 km²).
1000-luku|1000-luvulla nykyisen Schwerinin alueella sijaitsi obotriitit|obotriittien asutuskeskus. Aluetta kutsuttiin nimellä Zuarin, josta myös nykyinen nimi on johdettu.
Vuonna 1358 Schwerinistä tuli osa Mecklenburgin herttuakuntaa. Noin vuonna 1500 aloitettiin Schwerinin linnan rakentaminen. Mecklenburgin jaon jälkeen vuonna 1621 Schwerinistä tuli Mecklenburg-Schwerinin pääkaupunki. Vuosina 1765-1837 Schweriniä korvasi pääkaupunkina Ludwigslust. Mecklenburg-Vorpommernin pääkaupunki kaupungista tuli vuonna 1990.
Kaupungin nähtävyyksiin kuuluu muiden muassa vuosina 1260-1416 rakennettu Schwerinin katedraali. Nykyinen pormestari on Norbert Claussen (Christlich Demokratische Union|CDU).
