Karlsruhe: Guide

Karlsruhe on kaupunki Saksassa Baden-Württembergin osavaltiossa lähellä Ranskan rajaa, ja siellä on 282 595 asukasta. Kaupunki perustettiin 1715, eli se on saksalaiseksi kaupungiksi hyvin nuori.

Talouselämä

Saksan suurin öljynjalostamo sijaitsee Karlsruhessa.
Karlsruhe tunnetaan myös Saksan internet pääkaupunkina koska siellä on kaksi suurta internet-palveluntarjoaja.
Kaupunkissa on myös suuri teknologiapuisto jossa sijaitsee tutkimuslaitoksia ja kehityskeskuksia.

Liikenne

Karlsruhe on tunnettu kaupunki liikenteen jakamiseen. Neljä suurta kaupunkia sjaitsee Karlsruhen ympärillä ovat: Mannheim, Stuttgart,Saarbrücken ja Strasbourg, Ranskassa.
Karlsruhen vieressä on autobahn ja InterCity Express junayhteys joka yhdistää kaupungin Frankfurtiin, Stuttgartiin,Müncheniin ja Freiburgiin ja Baseliin.
Lähin lentoasema on Baden Airpark joka sjaitsee 45 km etelään Karlsruhesta. Frankfurtin kansainvälinen lentoasema ja Stuttgartin lentoasema ovat tunnin ajomatkan päässä kaupungista.

Juutalainen yhteisö

Juutalaiset asettuivat Karlsruheen kun kaupunki perustettiin.
Vuonna 1925 noin 3 300 juutalaisuus|juutalaista asuu kaupungissa.Juutalaiset omistivat yrityksiä ja maata ja kaupungissa oli monta synagogaa. Oli juutalaisia kouluja ja kauppoja ja hautausmaita.

Natsihallituksen ensimmäisenä vuonna monta juutalaista muuttivat pois. 22. lokakuuta vuonna 1938 kaikki miespuoliset puolalaistaustaiset juutalaiset vietiin Puolaan. Synagogat tuhottiin Kristalliyönä. Monet miespuoliset juutalaiset vietiin Dachaun keskitysleirille .Vuonna 1945 kaupungissa oli vain 18 juutalaista. Uusi synagoga rakennetiin vuonna 1969.

Nykyään kaupungissa asuu noin 900 juutalaista.
