Bonn: Guide
Bonn on kaupunki Saksassa, Nordrhein-Westfalenin osavaltiossa, 20 km etelään Kölnistä Reinin varrella. Bonn oli Saksan liittotasavallan (Länsi-Saksan) pääkaupunki 1949–1990|90. Kaupungissa on 310 930 asukasta (2002).
Bonnin historia ulottuu jo roomalaisaikoihin. Vuonna 10 eaa. roomalaiset rakensivat sillan Reinin yli paikassa nimeltä Bonna. Teutoburgin taistelun jälkeen vuonna 9|9 jaa. tästä leiristä tuli 7000 legioonalaisen linnoitus. Rooman häviön jälkeen linnoituksesta tuli kaupunki.
1000- ja 1200-luvulla kaupunkiin rakennettiin romaaninen katedraali. Vuonna 1597 kaupungista tuli Kölnin ruhtinaskunnan pääkaupunki. Elektori ja Kölnin arkkipiispa Clemens August (hallitsi 1724–1761|61) rakennutti joukon barokkirakennuksia, jotka vieläkin hallitsevan kaupungin kuvaa. Toinen merkittävä hallitsija oli Max Franz (1784–1794|94), joka perusti yliopiston ja Bad Godesbergin kylpyläkaupunginosan. Hän oli myös kaupungissa 1770 syntyneen Ludwig van Beethovenin suojelija. Ruhtinas kustansi myös Beethovenin ensimmäisen matkan Wieniin.
Vuonna 1794 ranskalaiset valloittivat kaupungin ja siitä tuli osa Ranskan keisarikuntaa Napoleonin alaisuudessa. Vuonna 1815 Preussi valloitti Bonnin ja se oli osa Preussi|Preussia vuoteen 1945.
Toisen maailmansodan jälkeen Bonn oli brittijoukkojen miehitysvyöhykkeellä ja 1949 se julistettiin Länsi-Saksan väliaikaiseksi pääkaupungiksi. Päätös tehtiin Kölnin läheltä kotoisin olevan Konrad Adenauerin myötävaikutuksella.
Saksan yhdistyessä Berliinistä tuli 1990 jälleen Saksan pääkaupunki. Kaikkia liittovaltion virastoja ei kuitenkaan siirretty, ainoastaan Bundestag 20. kesäkuuta 1991 pitkän väittelyn jälkeen. Osa ministeriöistä on edelleen Bonnissa, eikä niitä ole tarkoitus siirtää.
Bonnin yliopisto (Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Bonn am Rhein) on 35 000 opiskelijallaan yksi Saksan suurimmista.
