Bukarest: Guide

Bukarest (romanian kieli|romanian kielellä Bucureşti) on Romanian pääkaupunki ja 2 354 131 asukkaallaan myös maan suurin kaupunki.

Bukarestin tunnetuin nähtävyys on diktaattori Nikolae Ceausescun rakennuttama Kansan palatsi, joka on maailman suurin rakennus.

Hallinto

Kaupunki on jaettu kuuteen sektoriin (sectoare), jotka on jaettu pienempiin piirikuntiin (cartiere).

Väestö

Bukarest on kasvanut voimakkaasti viimeisen kahden vuosisadan aikana lähinnä Romanian kaupungistumisen myötä. Ennen 1800-lukua romanialaiset olivat lähinnä maanviljeliöitä jotka asuivat maaseudulla. Nykyään 9 % Romanian väestöstä asuu Bukarestissa
