Rieti: Guide

Rieti on kaupunki Italiassa Latiumin hallinnollisella alueella. Se sijaitsee noin 80 kilometriä koilliseen Roomasta 405 metrin korkeudella merenpinnasta. Kaupungin pinta-ala on 206 neliökilometriä ja väkiluku 47 008 (tilanne 30. kesäkuuta 2005).

Historia

Rietin alue oli alun perin Sabine-heimon aluetta. 200-luku|200-luvulla siitä tuli Antiikin Rooma|Rooman valloittaessa sen merkittävä tieverkon piste. Rooman valtakunnan kukistuessa Rieti joutui barbaarit|barbaarien tuhon kohteeksi, mutta kaupunki jälleenrakennettiin myöhemmin roomalaisten avustuksella.

Liikenne

Rietiin pääsee moottoritietä A1, joka kulkee Roomasta Firenzeen, jäämällä Ortessa ja jatkamalla tietä SS.79. Kaupungissa on lisäksi rautatieasema.
