Ferrara on kaupunki Italiassa, Emilia-Romagnan hallinnollisella alueella, 50 kilometriä Bolognasta koilliseen. Vuonna 2004 siellä oli 131 907 asukasta. Kaupungissa on leveitä katuja ja loisteliaita palatseja sen maineen päiviltä 1300-luku|1300-luvulta, jolloin Este-suku piti siellä hoviaan. Ferrara on Ferraran maakunta|Ferraran maakunnan pääkaupunki.
Ferraran historia alkaa 700-luku|700-luvulta, ja se oli itsenäinen valtio noin vuodesta 1000 vuoteen 1859, jolloin se liittyi Italian kuningaskuntaan. 1400-luku|1400-luvulla sen yliopisto oli kuuluisa renessanssifilosofien opinahjo.
Kaupungissa on yli yhdeksän kilometria muinaisia muureja, enimmäkseen 1400- ja 1500-luku|1500-luvuilta. Sen keskellä on vallihautojen ympäröimä Este-suvun linna vuodelta 1385.
