Linz on Itävalta|Itävallan kolmanneksi suurin kaupunki ja Oberösterreichin liittomaan pääkaupunki Tonavan varrella Itävallassa lähellä Saksan ja Tšekki|Tšekin rajaa. Vuonna 2005 kaupungissa oli arviolta 188 968 asukasta. Kaupunki on tärkeä liikenneristeys ja siellä on muun muassa tärkeä jokisatama. Kaupungissa on myös yliopisto. Linz on myös tärkeä teollisuuskeskus, jossa on mm. metalliteollisuus|metalli-, koneteollisuus|kone- ja kemianteollisuus|kemianteollisuutta. Kaupunki on Tampereen ystävyyskaupunki ja se toimii Euroopan kulttuuripääkaupunkina 2009. Kaupungin perustivat jo roomalaiset.
