Baeza: Guide

Baeza on kaupunki Jaén (maakunta)|Jaénin maakunnan keskellä Andalusiassa, 48 km Jaénista. Baezan asukasluku on 15 880 (2005).

Baezassa on 1533 perustettu yliopisto, joka on muutettu seminaariksi, tuomiokirkko ja fransiskaaniluostari. Baeza oli muinoin kukoistava Maurit|maurien kaupunki, jossa sanottiin olevan 50 000 asukasta. Ferdinand III ryösti sen 1239 ja siirsi 1248 hiippakunnan Jaéniin.

Baezassa on Guardia Civilin poliisikoulu.

Baezan ja Úbedan renessanssimonumentit lisättiin 2003 Yhdistyneiden kansakuntien kasvatus-, tiede- ja kulttuurijärjestö|UNESCOn maailmanperintöluetteloon.
